Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the daughter of British parents Jacqueline Luesby (a lawyer) and Chris Watson (a French mother). When she was five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire where she attended Dragon School. Emma knew from the time she was six years old that she wanted to become an actor. Over the course of several years, she was a student at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught singing, dancing, acting, and more. When she was 10 she was performing and played the lead role in numerous Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999 casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001), the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was identified by casting agents via her Oxford theatre teacher. After eight auditions David Heyman informed Emma and Rupert Grint that they were chosen to play Hermione Granger as well as Harry Potter. Emma's first appearance on screen in cinema was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). The film was the most successful film of 2001 in terms both of weekend and opening day sales. The performances of the film and of its three young actors received praise from reviewers. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper with a huge circulation, said that her performance was "admirable". Emma was awarded five more times for her role in the film, among them the Young Artist Award, for the Best Young Actress in the feature Film. Emma was a star after the film's first success in the franchise. In the ten years that followed, she played the character of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma has received two Critics' Choice Award nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her role in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
