Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe (born on
26th August 2002) who is professionally referred to as Lil Tecca, is an
American musician and rapper. The rapper gained fame through the release of his
single from 2019 "Ransom", which reached number 4 on the Billboard
Hot 100. The single was included on his debut mixtape We Love You Tecca (2019)
which peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard 200. The mixtape also contained
the two singles "Love Me" and "Did It Again". His first
studio album, Virgo World (2020) debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200 and
included the Billboard Hot 100 charting songs "Dolly" and "When
You Down". The mixtape he followed, We Love You Tecca 2, was released in
August 2021 and included "Repeat It" and "Lot of Me".
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe is a Jamaican Immigrant, was born in Queens on
August 26, 2002. Sharpe was born in Queens' Springfield Gardens, and later
relocated to Cedarhurst on Long Island. Sharpe was a child with aspirations to
be a basketball player. However, his attention shifted to music at age twelve.
He completed his studies at Lawrence High School. Tecca aged nine at the age,
was rapping alongside his peers using his Xbox to record. One of their diss
tracks was uploaded to SoundCloud several years ago, however it has since been
deleted. At first, he didn't have intentions to start music and instead was
aspired to be an NBA star. As he entered middle school however, he began to
become bored with basketball and took music seriously. His first track to gain
some attention, "Tectri", was recorded in collaboration with his pal,
Lil Gummybear, and was released in early 2017. The other tracks that he had in
the beginning include "Callin". His hit single "Ransom,"
which was first posted to Cole Bennett's Lyrical lemonade YouTube channel on
May 22nd of 2019, was the start of the meteoric rise of Tecca. The song reached
the top spot at 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has received over 900
million plays on Spotify and over 300 million views on YouTube.
